More Sanctions on Iran and it's Allies

Office of the Spokesperson
 “…our mission set is twofold: to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon and then to make sure that that country, the world’s largest state sponsor of terror, can’t inflict harm on Americans. So we do everything we can each day to reduce that risk, all the while trying to deliver on the President’s commitment, which says we want to make sure we’re taking care of Americans.  So reducing our risk, reducing the number of American young men and women who are at risk in the Middle East is a twin objective for President Trump.”
– Secretary Pompeo, Interview with WFLA-AM Tampa Bay, January 23, 2020

According to the U.S. Department of State press release:

The Iranian regime must cease its destabilizing activities or it will continue to face even greater economic pressure and diplomatic isolation. Our sanctions will remain in place until Iran changes its behavior. We will continue to expose the regime’s malign activities, self-dealing, and outright oppression.

NOTABLE TWEETS THIS WEEK:

Maximum pressure on the Iranian regime will continue until its behavior changes. Today we imposed sanctions against China, Hong Kong, and UAE-based entities for operating in Iran’s oil and petrochemical sectors. If you facilitate this regime’s activities, you will be sanctioned.

Congratulations to Iranian-American and new #NASA astronaut Jasmin Moghbeli! In 1979, her parents fled #Iran. Today, she aims for the stars and may become the first woman to go to the moon. Her success shows what women can do without the constraints of an oppressive regime.
@SecPompeo January 20
We applaud the announcements of Colombia, Honduras, and Guatemala to designate #Iran-backed #Hizballah a terrorist organization. It and other transnational terrorist groups remain active in the region. The U.S. continues to rally international support to counter these threats.
