Laredo Sector Border Patrol Intercepted a Human Smuggling Attempt

LAREDO, Texas – Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Hebbronville Station intercepted a human smuggling attempt in Hebbronville, Texas.


The event occurred on July 19, when Border Patrol agents encountered a pickup truck hauling a shed on top of a flatbed trailer at the primary inspection lane of the FM 1017 Border Patrol checkpoint. Agents conducted a search of the shed and discovered several noncitizens concealed inside. Agents noticed an additional pickup truck hauling a shed parked on FM 1017 just north of the checkpoint. An investigation of the second truck revealed more noncitizens concealed inside. A total of 69 individuals were discovered hiding inside the two sheds. All subjects were removed and brought to the Hebbronville station for processing.

Record checks were conducted it was revealed that they were in the country illegally from the countries of Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala and will be processed accordingly. Four subjects were arrested in connection with the smuggling attempt. HSI will be continuing the investigation.
